ABOUT US
Who We Are
Warm Elders is a non-profit organization rooted in the heart of the Navajo Nation and San Juan County.
We are dedicated to supporting our community through the cold winters by providing essential firewood.
Our core values are education, community, teamwork, integrity, and empathy.
What We Do
Our mission is to provide life-saving firewood to the elderly, veterans, and disabled individuals in the Navajo Utah Territory and San Juan County.
By doing so, we aim to improve their health and wellness, support environmental stewardship, and promote economic stability in our community.
We believe in fostering a sense of family and community, ensuring no one is left in the cold.
Our History
Founded in 2024, Warm Elders was born out of a desire to help the most vulnerable members of our community stay warm and safe during the harsh winter months.
What began in 2020 as an effort to provide firewood for family members grew into a coordinated and comprehensive community support initiative within Utah's Navajo Nation to identify and serve those at risk of freezing.
Our volunteers, primarily multi-generational families, established a network to identify needs, procure necessary equipment, and distribute firewood.
Our Partners
We have formed a relationship with the San Juan National Forest Service, who donate large, ready-to-process log piles. This partnership ensures we have ample firewood supply during winter.
